Tsulquate - Day 1 & 2

Mentors of Our World worked with the Tsulquate community in 2011 and 2013 to create short films in conjunction with the feature documentary: How a People Live, directed by Our World mentor Lisa Jackson. The community enjoyed making their own films so much that Our World is now here officially to make films with the community bringing Julie, Sebnem, Barb and Lisa as mentors! Big thanks to Colleen Hemphill for inviting us back and Jamaine Campbell for being our youth liaison!

A great crew of interested participants already have ideas and are working hard to make their films:

Mariah is making a film about the Kwakwaka'wakw language. (Mariah created a film about the Halibut Hook in the second workshop). Roberta will interview her grandmother about culture. Kelly is inspired by Lisa Jackson's How and People Live and wants to make her own short film about the relocation of the Gwa'sala & 'Nakwaxda'xw people. Alex will interview his Grandmother hoping she will tell one of his favourite stories, Clifford & Michael will work together exploring culture through the lens of video games and 'choosing your adventure' , Ricky will find out about fun things in his Granny's past rather than all the sad stories, and Stephen will explore the culture of fishing.
