Old Crow - Sunday - last day
A beautiful sunny last day.
Today we can just enjoy Old Crow and Caribou Days. There was another brunch at the hall after the church service. We ate scrambled eggs, pancakes, waffles, sausages, toast and bagels ! YUM… Someone gave Mary Jane some incredible photos of Georgie and his dog team as well as pictures of Mary Jane herself. Also Georgie’s dog team bib that he would tie to the sled.
We watched some games with the kids like a big log game that was similar to the tug of war except you pushed instead of pulled. There was also the egg toss which MJ and mentor Lisa g entered. Lets just say they weren’t the fist ones out….HAHA there was the run, where participants ran the whole way around the village…4km….it was such a hot day - impressive to run!
A quick stop in the John Tizya Center and the bulletin board and Mary Jane’s Jijuu doll….we moved our gear back to the cabin to repack.
Then we walked around the village as one last goodbye and stretch our legs. OC has an incredible solar array which is a success story of cutting down on diesel fuel use. It is amazing that this silent structure can power so much in Old Crow. It was a beautiful day with pretty trees and brightly coloured homes and the still icy lake and the much lower Crow Slough.
We later packed our suitcases and listened to a bit of the gospel singalong at the hall and then turned in content on the last night in Old Crow.
