Animation @ Tahayghen Elementary School
Happy to be back at Tahayghen Elementary School in Masset! For 3 days we worked with students in grades 6 and 7 to create an EPIC animation of a traditional Haida story.
Day one May 6: Students: Blaine, Frankie, George, Hope, Jami, Jasmine, Keith, Leesan, Mady, Meishon, Ocean, Presley, Shyanne & Sophia worked with mentors Tracy and Venay to animate the letters of their names. Then they worked with their Haida language teacher Jaskwaan Bedard to decide on, and create a storyboard for the The Big Spider. At the end of the day they had animated several scenes.
Day two May 7: Students continued to work with Jaskwaan to finish animating The Big Spider.
Day three May 8: Have you ever heard a comic strip interpreted by creative musicians? The musicians from the New Orchestra Workshop (NOW) Society, based in Vancouver, travelled to Masset to present their Onomatopoeia workshop to students at Tahayghen Elementary School. Lisa M, Caden, Mike, JP and Sheldon then worked with students to compose original sound effects and music for their film.
This film will screen May 17th at the Haida Heritage Centre @ 7pm!!!!
