Arrival Kangiqsujuaq
The mentors Glenn, Sebnem and Lisa meet at 5am at the airport…Air Inuit has NO worries about the storm warning.
Our ‘milk run’ starts at 7am - on time! First stop: Quebec City (wait on plane), enroute to Schefferville, Quebec we get served delicious omelette for breakfast! In Schefferville we get out to stretch our legs and wait for 20 minutes. THEN, we fly to Kuujjuaq wait 2 hours - eat lunch provided by Air Inuit, visit gift shop. Kuujjuaq has a pretty airport. Next is Kangirsuk where we get out to for a bathroom break and admire the airport. Then off we go to Quaqtaq, a quick stop while we wait on plane…finally we get to Kangiqsujuaq (Wakeham Bay) arriving by 5pm! Looooooong but interesting day of travel.
Alex G gives us a nighttime tour of the village. The store, the Elders building, the school, the Northern, the docks. Then we get settled in at the Nasivvik Student Residence. We meet Nigel at 6pm and make a plan until 8pm, then its a bit of ping pong and head to bed.
